The mermaid parade in Coney Island got off to a wet start , but , it didn’t keep the people away . 

But , the parade would carry on as scheduled as the NYPD lead the way . 

I didn’t know when shooting this shot , it was Blondies : Debbie Harry sitting in the cart . 

But as the rains let up the characters came out to play :
